On VBHC & PROMs

In 2014, I joined the International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement (ICHOM, www.ichom.org) in Boston, USA. At ICHOM, I got firsthand experience and education into Value-Based Health Care (VBHC) and the transformation of health care systems around what matters most to patients. I guided working groups of physicians, patients, and registry leaders through the process of defining the outcomes of most importance for patients. Such a set of outcomes is called a Standard Set. The Standard Set development process was captured in this video.

I also researched the field of Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs), studying its history and future developments. With more and more organizations wanting to understand the health outcomes achieved for patients, a good understanding of the use of PROMs is getting increasingly important.

Currently, I guide implementation of VBHC processes in hospitals and health care organizations. Contact me if you are interested to learn more.
